Cyclospora outbreak linked to iceberg lettuce declared over

A multistate cyclospora outbreak linked to iceberg lettuce has been declared over, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Food and Drug Administration announced Sept. 11. The CDC notice said the number of recent infections “significantly declined” and that contaminated lettuce linked to the outbreak is no longer available in stores or restaurants. There have been 12,883 cyclosporiasis cases linked to the outbreak, which has caused two deaths and spanned 21 states. The FDA is continuing to investigate the cause of the contamination, which is linked to processed iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms grown in Mexico.
